Week 15,16, and 17: Bedroom Nails

I'm Sorry I know, I've missed three weeks but I was visiting colleges and was stranded without nailpolish or computer access (I really do need a laptop.) So to remedy my mistake I have come up with a way to do three manicures in one!

I started with lace on my thumbs and index fingers to do this I actually painted the lace and then pressed it onto my nails.

Second I did small black and red corsets on my pointer and pinky nails I wish I had found small enough ribbon for bows but alas I did not.

Then I painted my middle fingers in what I like to call "starry night" however it is less Van Goh inspired and more "dot dot" surrot in that it is basically small white dots on top of black polish covered in silver polish with gemstones mixed in for some bling.

When you add it all up (corsets, lace, ambiance inducing stars) you end up with what I like to call bedreoom nails.

Anyway I hope my sneaky plan is enough to appease y'all.

See ya next week.

Week 13: Missoni Print

So this week I tried to do a Missoni-style Zigzag print, but as many people observed, my nails look like Easter eggs instead. Which is great, except that I had planned to do Easter eggs next week, for Easter. Oh well maybe I'll do bunnies instead. Oooh with little tails? That could be cute!

Anyway I used a white base coat ( and under that I put my new strengthening polish, weekly manicures really take a toll on your nails!) On top I have orange, mint green, black, turquoise, and pink zigzags. Cute Huh? I still maintain that they look like Missoni zigzags.

Week 12: Hunger Games!

I know, I know, everyone is doing Hunger Games nails but as I'm going to see the movie tomorrow I just had to do it. I chose to mix it up (since all i've been seeing are flames, and mockingjays) and do District 13 inspired nails. If you aren't a fan of the Hunger Games READ THEM District 13 is the district that started the uprising that led to the post-apocalyptic world inhabited by Katniss Everdeen, and was subsequently punished with extinction by way of nuclear weaponry. My nails are basically what I envisioned District 13 to look like post annihilation.  I started it much the same as my other forays into ombre with black at the bottom than a maroon and finally a tan color. I covered everything with an orange tinted glitter because what is a manicure without glitter? Then I used a toothpick and white polish to write District 13 on my thumbnail.
So, are my nails end of the world worthy? I think Katniss would approve or at least Effie T. would.

Week 10/11: Newspaper/Lucky Charms/ Apology

I'm sorry! I know I missed last week but I'm making it up right now, plus I'm trying to think up a suitable punishment for my slacking. The worst part is that I already had my nails done and my pictures taken all I had to do was write but I was too darn lazy.

So LAST week I did newsprint. Literally. I dipped pieces of newspaper in rubbing alchohol, painted my nails white and just pressed the newspaper onto my nails for about 10 seconds. Here is the finished product.

As you can see I had to go over some of them a couple times and the newsprint got piled on top of itself.
On to St. Patty's Day! I am not Irish, nor an alcoholic so I really don't celebrate St. Patrick's Day but nonetheless I felt it fitting to pay homage with my nails. I used gold and green to paint 3 leaf clovers on my thumbs and just green tips on the rest of my nails they're actually pretty fun! Success!
I promise I will Make it up next time, till then I am begging forgiveness.

Week 9: Highlighter

So this week I was out of town and therefore did my nails in a hotel room. To avoid a mess (and the subsequent fine) I thought why not use clear nail polish and just color on top? No way to mess that up. I'll just go ahead and pat myself on the back now. Anywho it's pretty straightforward paint with clear, scribble on top with highlighter and then so that they don't just wash right off, finish with a top coat.  Done. It's a party in the USA.

Week 8: tye-dye

Ok so the plan was to do paisley this week but I tried to make the paiseley pattern in water ( the same way you do tye-dye nails) only it didn't work out so well and this is what I got instead.

I think they turned out pretty cool, but If I had planned to do tye-dye they would have turned out better, especially because I wouldn't have forgotten to use tape or Vaseline to keep the polish from sticking to my fingers as well as my nails. For this manicure I used  turquoise, wine, and minty green colors which I thought seemed pretty groovy. Well, peace out for this week.
